How to come to Valdesangil

  Valdesangil is only 2,5 km away from Béjar, a major town thet will serve as our indications reference. 

  The routes from locations in Catalonia, east coast and south-east of Andalucía suppose passing by Madrid, so we give the indications from Madrid. For illustrative purposes we note some tours from other regions, although we believe that all paths can be very interesting. Distances and estimated journey time is taken from the 'Campsa' website, so times are only indicative and are usually shorter than those shown.

     From Madrid to Ávila, the shortest way is A-6 highway up to Collado Villalba, then  AP-6 toll highway until the Ávila indication, where we take the toll AP-51 highway. Without getting into Ávila, we'll continue on towards Plasencia by the N-110 up to Piedrahita.

     An alternative journey is: from Madrid up to El Escorial, then M-505 road (later named as C-505) by Navalperal de Pinares up to Ávila. Without getting into Ávila, we'll continue on towards Plasencia by the N-110 up to Piedrahita.

    From Piedrahita to Béjar we can drive directly or going through Barco de Ávila. Both distances are similar as well as the time taking. During rough wintertimes we recommend the direct way. Both ways are shown below.

  The journey Piedrahita to Béjar goes through spectacular oak forests, the nice village Puente del Congosto, Santibáñez de Béjar y  Sorihuela. Once we reach this village, we take the N-630 road (A-66 highway) towards Béjar-Plasencia-Cáceres, i.e. direction south. Before we reach Béjar we'll see the Valdesangil signal indicators (click on the right side map).

 If we choose the journey Piedrahita - Barco de Ávila - Béjar, we, at Piedrahita, take the N-110 road towards Béjar. We'll go by Becedas and La Hoya (as a reference) down to a crossing with signs indicating Béjar.  Before we reach Béjar we'll see the Valdesangil signal indicators (click on the right side map).

  The most picturesque journey from Toledo could be the road to Torrijos and Maqueda to take the A-5 highway towards Extremadura. After Talavera, we turn by the N-502 road towards the Puerto del Pico. After reaching this, take the AV-100 road towards Barco de Ávila, and continue on towards Béjar. Before reaching this town we'll find the Valdesangil indications.

  The easiest journey is to take the N-401 road towards Madrid, and get on the M-50 ring road.

  Take the M-50 towards North until reach the A-6 highway exit.

  Take the A-6 highway, toll highway AP-6 up to the Ávila indication, where we'll get on the toll AP-51 highway. Without entering Ávila town, continue towards Plasencia by the -110, until reaching Piedrahita (see journeys above) to get to Valdesangil.

(385 km  aprox. 4h 10 min)  

  As you can see on our resumed journey schema, our recommendation is to take from Cuenca the N-400 road until de Tarancón exit, where we'll take the A-3 (and later on the R-3 toll highway) until reaching the M-50 (or M-40) ring road at the Madrid environment, and get towards the A-6 high road. AP-51 to Ávila, then towards Plasencia by the N-110, until Piedrahita (see journeys above), and get into Valdesangil.

  From Guadalajara we take the A-2 highway (la R-2 as other choice) until the M-40 ring road of Madrid towards North until the A-6 exit.

   AP-51 to Ávila, then towards Plasencia by the N-110, until Piedrahita (see journeys above), and get into Valdesangil.

(525 km  aprox. 5h 15 min)  

  From Zaragoza we take the A-2 highway towards Guadalajara. From here we continue on the A-2 (R-2 as a choice) until the M-40 or M-50 direction North, until reaching the A-6 exit.

  We'll keep on going until Ávila by the shortest journey, A-6 highway, then the AP-6 toll highway and reach the Ávila indication where we take the AP-51 toll highway. Without getting in Ávila, we continue on towards Plasencia by the N-110 towards Piedrahita (see journeys above) to reach Valdesangil.

(365 km  aprox. 4h 45 min)  

   From Soria we take the N-122 road until Segovia. From here, our recommendation is to take the AP-61 toll highway AP-6 and take the AP-51 until Ávila and take towards Plasencia until Piedrahita (see journeys above) to reach Béjar and Valdesangil.

  Shortest journey from Valladolid is to take the the N-620 until Tordesillas and then the A-62 (or N-620 as a choice) until Salamanca.

  From Salamanca we take the A-66 (or N-630 as a choice) towards South (Cáceres). Once we passed by the Puerto de Vallejera, before reaching Béjar, we'll see the Valdesangil indicators (exit 410).

  We do recommend to take the N-611 until Venta de Baños, and reach the AP-62 towards Valladolid, and continue to Tordesillas and Salamanca.

  From Salamanca we take the N-630 road (or A-66 highway) towards South (or Cáceres). Once we passed by the Puerto de Vallejera, before reaching Béjar, we'll see the Valdesangil indicators (exit 410).

(310 km  aprox. 3h 20 min)  

  Our recommendation for this journey is to take the N-620 road (or A-62 highway) until Valladolid to continue on to Tordesillas and Salamanca.

  From Salamanca we take the N-630 road (or A-66 highway) towards South (or Cáceres). Once we passed by the Puerto de Vallejera, before reaching Béjar, we'll see the Valdesangil indicators (exit 410).

(435 km  aprox. 5h)  

  From Santander (Cantabria in general) we consider the best way to get on the A-67 until Palencia. Then take the A-67 until Venta de Baños, to get on the AP-62 towards Valladolid and continue on to Tordesillas and Salamanca.

  From Salamanca we take the N-630 road (or A-66 highway) towards South (or Cáceres). Once we passed by the Puerto de Vallejera, before reaching Béjar, we'll see the Valdesangil indicators (exit 410).

(185 km  aprox. 2h 10 min)  

  Our recommendation is to take the toll highway AP-61 until San Rafael, and get on the toll highway AP-6 and reach the toll highway AP-51 until Ávila. Without entering this town, continue towards Plasencia by the N-110 until Piedrahita (see journeys above) to reach Béjar and Valdesangil, as explained above.

   Another choice is to get on the N-110 until Villacastín and then take the AP-51 towards Ávila. Without entering this town, continue towards Plasencia by the N-110 until Piedrahita (see journeys above) to reach Béjar and Valdesangil, as explained above.

(135 km  aprox. 1h 45 min)

     From Zamora we take the N-630 road (or A-66) direction South towards Salamanca. From this town we continue direction South (or Cáceres) until we see the Valdesangil indicators.

(105 km  aprox. 1h 15 min )

  This short and easy journey starts by taking the N-110 towards Plasencia until Piedrahita. As stated above, from Piedrahita we can choose the direct way to Béjar or going through Barco de Ávila (click here).

(65 km  aprox. 55 min )

from Salamanca we take the N-630 road (or A-66 highway) towards South (or Cáceres). Once we passed by the Puerto de Vallejera, before reaching Béjar, we'll see the Valdesangil indicators (exit 410).

  Our recommendation to reach Valdesangil can be divided as follow:

  To reach Benavente:

a.- From Santiago, Pontevedra or Ourense, get to Lugo or Ponferrada and until Benavente by the A-6 highway.

b.- From A Coruña, we recommend to take the A-6 highway towards Madrid, passing by Lugo or Ponferrada, until Benavente.

For the journey Benavente to Salamanca:

1.- to take the A-6 until Tordesillas and then the A-62 (or N-620) until Salamanca

2.- or to take the N-630 (or A-66) until Salamanca, passing by Zamora. 

     From Salamanca we take the N-630 road (or A-66 highway) towards South (or Cáceres). Once we passed by the Puerto de Vallejera, before reaching Béjar, we'll see the Valdesangil indicators (exit 410).

  From León we get on the N-630 (or A-66) direction South, towards Extremadura, until we reach Benavente.

  For the journey Benavente to Salamanca:

1.- to take the A-6 until Tordesillas and then the A-62 (or N-620) until Salamanca

2.- or to take the N-630 (or A-66) until Salamanca, passing by Zamora. 

     From Salamanca we take the N-630 road (or A-66 highway) towards South (or Cáceres). Once we passed by the Puerto de Vallejera, before reaching Béjar, we'll see the Valdesangil indicators (exit 410).

  The right side schema shows is to take the A-66 as soon as possible and then get on the toll AP-66 until near León  where we take the N-630 (or A-66) until Benavente.

  For the journey Benavente to Salamanca:

1.- to take the A-6 until Tordesillas and then the A-62 (or N-620) until Salamanca

2.- or to take the N-630 (or A-66) until Salamanca, passing by Zamora. 

     From Salamanca we take the N-630 road (or A-66 highway) towards South (or Cáceres). Once we passed by the Puerto de Vallejera, before reaching Béjar, we'll see the Valdesangil indicators (exit 410).

  From Cáceres we'll get towards Plasencia (direction North) by the N-630 (or A-66), until reaching the Béjar surroundings, and then continue on until the Valdesangil indicator (exit 410).

  We leave the highway and get on the roundabout where we'll see the Valdesangil indicator.

     From Mérida we take the N-630 (or A-66) towards North, we pass by Cáceres and continue on towards Plasencia (direction North) by the N-630 (or A-66), until reaching the Béjar surroundings, and then continue on until the Valdesangil indicator (exit 410).

  We leave the highway and get on the roundabout where we'll see the Valdesangil indicator.

(256 km  aprox. 2h 50 min)

  From Badajoz, our recommendation is to take the A-5 highway until Mérida and, from there, to take the N-630 (or A-66) towards North, we pass by Cáceres and continue on towards Plasencia (direction North) by the N-630 (or A-66), until reaching the Béjar surroundings, and then continue on until the Valdesangil indicator (exit 410).

  We leave the highway and get on the roundabout where we'll see the Valdesangil indicator.

(470 km   aprox. 4h 50 min )

     From Lisboa we do recommend to take towards España through Valencia de Alcántara, get into España and reach Cáceres by the road N-521 and, from there, to take the N-630 (or A-66) towards North, we pass by Cáceres and continue on towards Plasencia (direction North) by the N-630 (or A-66), until reaching the Béjar surroundings, and then continue on until the Valdesangil indicator (exit 410).

  We leave the highway and get on the roundabout where we'll see the Valdesangil indicator.

   Another choice is to take towards Palmela, Montemor-o-Novo, leave Evora on the right, continue on to Estremoz, pass by Elvas, get into España and reach Badajoz.

   From Badajoz, our recommendation is to take the A-5 highway until Mérida and, from there, to take the N-630 (or A-66) towards North, we pass by Cáceres and continue on towards Plasencia (direction North) by the N-630 (or A-66), until reaching the Béjar surroundings, and then continue on until the Valdesangil indicator (exit 410).

  We leave the highway and get on the roundabout where we'll see the Valdesangil indicator.

    We do recommend is to take towards Burgos: from Bilbao by the A-68/AP-68; from San Sebastián or Vitoria by the N-I, by Miranda de Ebro to Burgos by the A-1/AP-1. From Burgos, by the A-62 until Valladolid. From here we take the N-620 until Tordesillas. From this town, the N-620/A-62 until Salamanca.

    From Salamanca we take the N-630 road (or A-66 highway) towards South (or Cáceres). Once we passed by the Puerto de Vallejera, before reaching Béjar, we'll see the Valdesangil indicators (exit 410).  

     As stated above, for those coming from East or Southeast of Andalucía, we assume that they go towards Madrid, so they can read our indications on the 'from Madrid' journey described above.  suponemos que pasan por Madrid, de manera que las indicaciones las damos desde Madrid.

     For the rest of Andalucía, our recommendation is to take the N-630 (or A-66) towards North, passing by Zafra, Mérida, Cáceres and Plasencia until the Béjar surroundings, without leaving the A-66, and get on the 410 exit, a roundabout, and there follow the Valdesangil indicator.

(465 km  aprox. 4h 30 min)

   From Albacete we recommend to take the A-31 until the A-3 towards Madrid (later on the R-3 as an optional journey) and get on the ring roads M-40 or M-50 and get on the A-6 highway towards North.

  As an option, take the A-31 until La Roda, the get on the toll AP-36 highway until Ocaña and, from there, you can choose the A-4 towards the ring road M-50 (or M-40), or to take the R-4 and then the M-50 to pass by Madrid until the A-6 highway towards North.

  From Madrid (M-40, M-50, etc.) to Ávila the shortest journey is to take the A-6, then the toll highway AP-6 until the Ávila indicator where we take the toll highway AP-51.  Without entering this town, continue towards Plasencia by the N-110 until Piedrahita (see journeys above) to reach Béjar and Valdesangil, as explained above.

  From Valencia we'll take the A-3 towards Madrid (and later on R-3) until the Madrid surroundings, to continue by the M-40 (or M-50) ring roads, towards North, until the exit to get on the A-6.

  From Madrid (M-40, M-50, etc.) to Ávila the shortest journey is to take the A-6, then the toll highway AP-6 until the Ávila indicator where we take the toll highway AP-51.  Without entering this town, continue towards Plasencia by the N-110 until Piedrahita (see journeys above) to reach Béjar and Valdesangil, as explained above.
